WHY ARE WE LOSING GROUND?
WHY ARE WE LOSING GROUND?
If people involved in network marketing continue to perpetuate and endorse the same activities that have brought us to this point of such a negative perception in the public's collective consciousness of being a scam and a business based on a mathematical impossibility, then it will only serve to further strengthen the alienation and resistance to this business due to an overabundance of anecdotal negative experiences from those who feel like they have gotten a raw deal. Only because from an objective standpoint they have!
If you don't have a clue to what I'm referring, then open your eyes and go on any number of company specific and non specific anti MLM websites. Read the REAL stories of people who have suffered traumatic personal and financial loss. Stories of real life experiences create biases and perceptions, and there are far more MLM horror stories than the rags to riches propaganda which companies and reps like to showcase.
This is a real historically proven psychological phenomenon that will be so ingrained in the general population's mind, that recruiting ANYONE from outside our own biased culture will be next to impossible. This is an inevitable certainty.
People within the
network marketing community are so averse to accessing information that
challenges their strongly-held biases and viewpoints.
We want our prospects to have an open mind, don't we?
Yet most in this industry most are unwilling to reciprocate and be open-minded and accept some critical data that does not support our position. This is so hypocritical and close minded.
Unlike most people in this industry I've been around long enough to realize it not everybody is going to like our business model for themselves. But that doesn't mean we have to do things that intentionally make people want to shut us down completely. I have the ability to make fun of this industry because a lot of the things that we do in this industry are just not good from a business sustainability standpoint.
There is a new TV show that is using these overemphasized cliches and stereotypes that is based on some very well documented activities found in our industry. It's on Showtime and it's called,
On Becoming a God in Central Florida
It is not only an outstanding dark comedy, it is also a stinging indictment about the all-encompassing influence that a business like this can have on a person's life and financial health.
I watched the first two episodes of the show yesterday because I wanted to see it. I want to know what the non-network marketing world really thinks about us crazy pyramid schemers. It takes place in the 90s when I started my network marketing business and I can tell you that it's not far from reality. And it's quite shameful. Human nature does not change, only the speed at which to express it as afforded by technological advancements.
If you're a Network marketer who wants to stay a network marketer like me, you have basically one of two choices:
Stick your head in the sand and hope by some miracle it's going to change and get better. (Which is not going to happen BTW)
Or
Be involved in a solution, a real solution.
Don't just give lip service to something. You're in a personal development business!
Create an action plan.
Be accountable and hold others within this industry to account as well.
Because the gravy train that has been enriching the few at the top is about to derail in a very short amount of time from now.
I'm working on something to combat this pervasive negative yet mostly deserved stereotype about our business model. If you want to be part of the solution, please connect with me here.
